Man Dies and Woman Critically Injured in Collision Following Warwickshire Police Chase
The Independent Office for Police Conduct has launched an inquiry after the fatal crash near Stratford.
A motorist has died and another driver remains critically injured after a police chase ended in a collision near Stratford, Warwickshire. Warwickshire Police reported that officers attempted to pull over a black Audi on Birmingham Road at approximately 5:23 p.m. on Monday. The driver refused to stop, fleeing toward the A46 before turning back toward Stratford along the A439 Warwick Road. During the six-minute pursuit, several other vehicles sustained damage before the fleeing Audi collided with a white Ford Puma at around 5:44 p.m. Emergency services pronounced the male driver of the Audi dead at the scene. The female driver of the Ford Puma was rushed to hospital, where she remains in critical condition. Authorities stated that both families have been notified and are receiving specialist support. Because the fatality occurred following police contact, the force made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). The oversight body confirmed it was notified later that evening and has formally launched an independent investigation into the events leading up to the crash.
