British political commentator Milo Yiannopoulos has been taken into custody by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), federal authorities confirmed on Friday. According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the 41-year-old was apprehended at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. Officials stated that while Yiannopoulos entered the United States lawfully in May 2019, he subsequently overstayed his visa status. An immigration judge issued a final removal order in July after Yiannopoulos failed to appear for a scheduled immigration hearing. Yiannopoulos, who has resided and worked in the US for years, initially rose to prominence as an editor at Breitbart News before working in various political and media roles, including recent work associated with musician Ye (formerly Kanye West). Throughout his public career, Yiannopoulos has been a vocal supporter of Donald Trump and has frequently advocated for stringent border controls and aggressive immigration enforcement. Federal authorities indicated that he remains in ICE custody pending deportation proceedings.
