An Australian woman who had been missing for more than two days following catastrophic flash flooding in Nepal has successfully made contact with her family to confirm she is alive. Cara Severino, 25, reached her parents by phone, becoming the first among 39 Australian citizens reported missing in the disaster to be confirmed safe. Despite establishing communication, she still faces a difficult journey on foot of over 110 kilometres to reach the capital, Kathmandu. The devastating flood struck the border region between China and Nepal on Wednesday, leaving widespread destruction in its wake. Official reports indicate that at least 469 people have died, while more than 1,500 individuals remain unaccounted for as emergency rescue efforts continue.
