Torrential rainfall driven by Typhoon Narra has inundated large areas of southern China, forcing thousands of residents from their homes as regional water levels reach unprecedented heights. Local emergency services in Chongzuo, a city in the Guangxi autonomous region, carried out mass evacuations on Tuesday, relocating more than 15,000 people. Local floodwaters breached previous historical peak levels recorded during a major flood event in 2008. The severe weather system is anticipated to continue bringing heavy precipitation across southern China as well as parts of Vietnam. Meanwhile, weather monitoring agencies are tracking Typhoon Saudel, a secondary storm system currently moving toward Taiwan and Japan.
