Two Thai Nationals Arrested in South Africa Over Parrot Egg Smuggling

South African police have taken two Thai men into custody in separate operations for attempting to smuggle endangered parrot eggs out of the country. According to a statement from South Africa's environment ministry, the first arrest occurred on August 20 at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. Officials intercepted a 50-year-old Thai national carrying 50 bird eggs hidden inside a homemade incubator within his carry-on luggage. The arrests highlight ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat international wildlife trafficking and protect vulnerable avian species.
